Pan Macmillan has acquired Leadership, the second book by England Rugby Union head coach Eddie Jones.
Macmillan non-fiction publisher Robin Harvie struck the deal for world rights with Craig Livingstone at Livingstone Management Group. It will publish on 25th November 2021, alongside audio and e-book versions.
The book, Jones' second following My Life and Rugby (Pan Macmillan), has been written with Donald McRae, two-time winner of the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award, and is billed as “the ultimate rugby book about what it takes to be the best”.
The synopsis reads: “For the first time, Eddie Jones shows just what it takes to be a leader in a high-performance and high-pressure environment and how these lessons can be applied to every walk of life, from coaching the U9 rugby team to leading a multinational organisation to simply doing your job better. Leadership draws on stories of nearly 30 years of coaching, including the 2003, 2007, 2015 and 2019 World Rugby campaigns, the full story of England's 2021 Six Nations campaign. It shows why it takes humour, humility and relentless curiosity to lead an eclectic mix of superstars from Maro Itoje to James Haskell, George Smith to Kyle Sinckler to create teams that are relentlessly hungry to win.”
Harvie said: “Leadership is a book about learning from success and failure, about how an extraordinary work ethic and enduring humility can create greatness in individuals and teams. Eddie and Don have written a book that is a fascinating insight into England’s preparations for the 2023 World Cup and a must read for rugby fans around the world.”
