Egmont to publish Sam Hay picture book text

Egmont Publishing has acquired world rights to a second picture book text by Sam Hay, author of Do Not Wash This Bear.

Star in the Jar, a story about the friendship between a boy, his sister and a lot star, will be published in January 2018 with illustrations by Sarah Massini. Melissa Fairley, publishing director at Egmont, acquired the book as part of a two-book deal with Gemma Cooper of The Bent Agency.

Fairley said: “Sam Hay and Sarah Massini have created the perfect picture book. The story is humorous and heart-warming, and Sarah’s artwork beautifully captures the relationship between a big-hearted older sister and her lively little brother.”

Hay has written more than 30 children’s books, including the Undead Pets series, published by Stripes, and the Screaming Sands trilogy (Catnip).
