Transworld has snapped up Elliot Page’s memoir in a 16-way auction.
Bobby Mostyn-Owen, commissioning editor, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, to Pageboy from Meredith Miller at UTA. It will publish in 2023.
United Talent has closed nine translation deals to date, many of which are the result of competitive auctions and pre-empts. Two other English language deals were with Bryn Clark at Flatiron and Jennifer Lambert at HarperCollins Canada.
Transworld said the book “will delve into Page’s relationship with his body, his experiences as one of the most famous trans people in the world, and will cover mental health, assault, love, relationships, sex and the cesspool that Hollywood can be”.
Page is an Academy Award-nominated actor, producer and director who currently stars in Netflix series “The Umbrella Academy”.
Mostyn-Owen said: “Elliot’s memoir blew me away from its first page, striking heart and head in equal measure. I can’t wait for readers to discover his voice and hear his story. This will be an important and impactful book, one that Transworld will publish fiercely with all of our collective pride, joy and might.”
