Elliott & Thompson has scooped Lifelines: Finding a Home in the Mountains of Greece by Julian Hoffman, who was a finalist for the Wainwright Prize for Writing on global conservation in 2020.
Publishing director Sarah Rigby secured world all language rights from James Macdonald Lockhart at James Lockhart Agency, with the book set for release in demy hardback and e-book on 24th April 2025.
"In the summer of 2000, Julian Hoffman and his wife Julia found themselves disillusioned with city life," the synopsis says. "Overwhelmed by work and long commutes, they stumbled upon a book about Prespa, Greece—a remote corner of Europe filled with stone villages, snow-capped mountains and wildlife. What began as curiosity soon transformed into a life-changing decision: to make Prespa their home."
Rigby said: "For Julian, for ourselves and for an increasingly squeezed and disrupted wild world [...] I am thrilled to be publishing this incredible writer I’ve so long admired."
Hoffman added: "Lifelines is a story of shelter shared that has been a quarter of a century in the making since we first read of the high mountains and ancient lakes of the extraordinary Prespa region in northern Greece. And I can’t think of a finer home for a book about homecoming than the brilliant Elliott & Thompson, whose vision of championing engaging and inventive non-fiction about our place in the world has been so exciting to see in recent years."
