'Engrossing' short story collection to No Exit

No Exit Press has acquired Walden of Bermondsey, a new collection of short stories by Peter Murphy, author of the Ben Schroeder series of historical thrillers.

Ion Mills, managing director at No Exit Press, bought world rights from Annette Crossland at A for Authors.

Walden of Bermondsey follows the life of Charlie Walden, Resident Judge at Bermondsey Crown Court, as he contends with difficult peers and bureaucratic obstacles in the workplace, all the while trying to accomplish his real job – trying a series of thorny criminal cases.

Murphy graduated from Cambridge University and spent a career in the law, as an advocate, teacher, and judge. He has worked both in England and the United States, and served for several years as counsel at the Yugoslavian War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague. He has published seven novels with No Exit Press: two political thrillers about the US presidency, Removal and Test of Resolve; and five legal/historical thrillers featuring Ben Schroeder, A Higher Duty, A Matter for the Jury, And is there Honey still for Tea?, The Heirs of Owain Glyndwr and Calling Down the Storm.

Walden of Bermondsey by Peter Murphy will be published by No Exit Press in paperback in November 2017, with a second volume due in 2018.
