Eriu, the Dublin-based imprint of Bonnier Books UK, has acquired Last Chance in Paris by debut author Lynda Marron.
Deirdre Nolan, publishing director, acquired world all-language rights to two books from Polly Nolan at Papercuts Literary Consultancy. Last Chance in Paris will publish on 8th February 2024 in trade paperback, e-book and audio.
“When her husband suggests a weekend in Paris, Claire feels obliged to say yes, but immediately regrets it” the publisher teased. “After all that they’ve been through, how can three days in a foreign city save their marriage? Claire and Ronan aren’t the only people on a make-or-break visit to the City of Love. There is a big-shot movie producer from Hollywood, full of regret for a life ill-lived; a student from Boston, torn between love and duty; a Ukrainian refugee struggling to protect her little sister; and an old woman from Dijon, hoping to be braver than she has ever had to be before.”
Marron said: “The story of writing this novel began 20 years ago with a Moleskine notebook inscribed with the words ’For when I take you to Paris’. Somehow, life led me up one unlikely boulevard after another until that notebook was filled and transformed into a novel that felt like it was always meant to be. What a joy it was, then, to meet Deirdre Nolan and discover a publisher who loved my characters from the word go, and understood how to protect the heart of the book. I’m over the moon to see Last Chance in Paris published by Eriu, and I can’t wait to make readers a part of the story.”
Nolan added: “Lynda Marron is an extraordinary talent, and I am thrilled to be bringing her to the Eriu list. With Last Chance in Paris she has created a cast of unforgettable characters in a moving, uplifting tale that will delight readers.”
