Eye Books has netted This One Wild and Precious Life, the "spiritual guidebook" by environmental campaigner and former journalist Sarah Wilson.
Publisher Dan Hiscocks acquired UK rights from Peggy Boulos Smith on behalf of Stacy Testa at Writers House in New York. The book will be published in a specially revised edition for the UK in August 2023.
Wilson is known for her book I Quit Sugar (Pan Macmillan) and is the founder of the website iquitsugar.com, an eight-week programme to help participants "break their sugar addiction". Already published in the US and Australia, and gold winner at the Nautilus Book Awards, This One Wild and Precious Life provides a "highly personal manifesto designed to help us all live through the crazy times in which we find ourselves". She commented: "I’m so thrilled to be working with a publisher committed to books that get us committed to fighting the climate crisis. The world of publishing – and the world broadly – has changed and care and commitment is key to getting good stuff done."
Hiscocks added: "This wonderful, life-changing book was published by major houses in Australia and the US, but we’re delighted and honoured that Sarah has chosen us, a small indie press, as her UK publishing partner. We pride ourselves in being passionate about what we do, and if there was ever a book I could be passionate about, it’s this one."
