Faber Children’s has bought a young fiction series, about a girl called Pippin who can talk to animals, by debut writer Harry Heape.
The series comprises three books, with the first, Shiny Pippin and the Broken Forest, due for release in August 2017. Shiny Pippin and the Broken Forest features kidnappers, evil scientists and would-be diamond thieves as well as animal friends such as Turbo Alan the badger and Oswald the stag.
Commissioning editor Naomi Colthurst purchased world rights (including audio) from Gill McLay at Bath Literary Agency.
Colthurst said: “We are so thrilled to welcome Harry and his host of brilliantly weird and wonderful characters to the Faber children's list. It's always a thrill to discover someone so fantastically talented right at the beginning of their career, and I have no doubt that Harry's unique voice and marvellous sense of humour will delight children for many years to come.”
