Faber has scooped rapper and singer Estelle Swaray’s "illuminating and instructive" memoir, about growing up in the music industry.
Publishing director Hannah Knowles acquired world all-languages rights in the as-yet-untitled book from Estelle to publish in autumn 2025.
The synopsis says: "Now in her early 40s, Estelle has gone from the young West London rapper and singer who put out a dizzyingly accomplished debut album, to a multiple-award-winning, internationally acclaimed star with her own record label and her own show on Apple Music; as well as a separate career in acting, notably voicing Garnet in the Emmy-nominated animated series ’Steven Universe’.
"The book is framed around instructive moments in Estelle’s life: absorbing and discovering musical influences in her formative years; navigating difficult moments in her career; finding a way to establish artistic and personal freedom and establishing a legacy that helps and inspires the next generation of young Black artists.
"In addition to Estelle’s own voice, she will be calling on some of her renowned friends and collaborators to reflect on the lessons she and they have learned along the path to success."
Swaray is known for her mix of various musical genres including R&B, soul, reggae, grime, hip hop and dance. She has collaborated with artists including John Legend, Rick Ross and Kanye West.
After signing with V2 Records, she released her debut album "The 18th Day". Her next album, "Shine", which was released through the Atlantic Record Label, helped her find mainstream success, while her last album, "All of Me", was released with the Atlantic label. The single "Thank You" received a Grammy Award nomination for Best R&B Performance.
Knowles said: "The moment I heard ’Free’ back in 2004 I became a fan of Estelle’s music. But seeing how she has handled her career over the last 20 years with such singular independence, strength and grace has made me a fan of her as a human being, too. This will be an incisive, illuminating and instructive memoir."
