Indie publisher Fairlight Books is adding five more titles to its pocket-sized Moderns series this year.
Fairlight Moderns, a collection of contemporary novellas, were launched in 2018 with five titles. They included Sophie Van Llewyn’s Bottled Goods, longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction this year.
The new titles will be released in two batches, with Minutes from the Miracle City by Omar Sabbagh and Atlantic Winds by William Prendiville to be published on 11th July. The Therapist by Nial Giacomelli, The Nail House by Gregory Baines and Milton in Purgatory by Edward Vass will follow on 26th September. Settings range from contemporary Dubai to 1970s rural Canada.
Each book has a cover illustration by Sam Kalda, from Folio Illustrations Agency, within a distinctive series design by New York-based Sara Wood.
Founder and c.e.o. of Fairlight Books, Louise Boland, said: “As a smaller publisher who is passionate about supporting new and emerging writers of literary fiction, the Fairlight Moderns are the perfect format for bringing new voices to lovers of quality fiction. We’re very excited to be adding these five new, fantastically talented, writers to the Fairlight Moderns collection.”
