Mitchell Beazley has acquired a second book from upmarket paint and paper brand Farrow & Ball.
Authored by Farrow & Ball’s colour curator, Joa Studholme, the new book Farrow & Ball Recipes for Decorating will be published on 7th March 2019, priced £30. It follows a deal for world rights done between publisher Alison Starling and Farrow & Ball directly.
The new book offers 13 case studies of "inspirational homes", either decorated by Studholme or that she admires, from city apartments to country cottages. Each is explored in turn to reveal how selecting the right range of colours can create a harmonious whole, and for each case study there is a detailed colour palette recipe and a menu of ideas to copy. Colour is considered room by room, showing how to combine colour with light and space to get the most out of every area, no matter how big or small. The aim of the book, according to its author, had been to combine as much useful information as possible with inspiring interiors photography.
Starling said it was "a huge pleasure" to be working work with Studholme once again. Her first book, Farrow & Ball How to Decorate (Mitchell Beazley, 2016) sold more than 55,000 copies worldwide, according to the publisher, of which Nielsen-tracked sales account for more than 48,000 copies.
"This new title looks set to be the best yet, offering an inspiring selection of precise colour ‘recipes’ that the reader can copy to transform their own home," said Starling. "Every year Joa creates colour schemes for more than 4,500 rooms and this is the first time that unrivalled experience has been shared in print."
Studholme, who has worked with Farrow & Ball for 23 years, added: "I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to work with Mitchell Beazley again. Following the enthusiastic reaction from readers to How to Decorate I realised that there is still a great appetite for simple guidance on how to use colour in the home."
