Farshore has landed the debut children's book from adventurer, writer and television personality Ant Middleton in a two-book deal.
Melissa Fairley, publishing director, secured world rights for two non-fiction books from Amanda Harris of YMU Books. The first book, Mission: Total Resilience, is a guide to boosting self-esteem, building resilience and creating coping strategies, publishing on 17th March 2022.
The publisher said: "Written with Ant’s trademark combination of positivity and authenticity, it draws on his own experiences including anecdotes from his childhood and adventures around the world." It will include tools for dealing with curveballs, leaving your comfort zone, and learning from mistakes.
Middleton said: "I’ve spent my adult life jumping out of helicopters, travelling through the most wild and dangerous habitats, and I’ve even climbed Everest. But as a child, I was pretty timid and definitely afraid of making mistakes. But as I got older, I realised mistakes and negativity are just stepping stones to strength and positivity. In Mission: Total Resilience I am going to share what I’ve learnt to help kids discover just how strong they really are.
"I’ve written bestselling books that help adults achieve their life goals and have a more positive outlook on their futures, now I’m excited to write for a new generation of readers. This book will help kids believe in themselves, help them access their inner strength and bounce back from life’s challenges."
Fairley added: "We know that many children struggle with confidence, affecting their life outcomes. Even before Covid, children were experiencing increased stress and anxiety. We know reading helps build resilience, through both the act of reading and the content itself. So we are delighted to be working with Ant to give children the tools they need to achieve their goals. Ant’s determination and resilience has earned him a million-strong fanbase of families across the world, and we’re thrilled to be working with him to reach children from all backgrounds."
Middleton has sold 933,925 books for £8m via Nielsen BookScan. His bestseller is his non-fiction title First Man In (HarperCollins) which has sold 279,971 copies in paperback and 248,192 in hardback. His debut fiction book, Cold Justice (Sphere), is his most recent Sunday Times bestselling hit.
