Farshore has landed two titles in a new superhero picture book series from Matt Carr.
Melissa Fairley, publishing director, acquired world publishing rights from Stephanie Thwaites at Curtis Brown. The first book, Captain Looroll, will publish in April 2023, followed by a sequel in the same month in 2024.
The synopsis says: “Originating from the trunk of the magical everlasting oak tree, Captain Looroll is super strong, endlessly long, and brimming with courage. However, stuck in the deadly dull surrounds of the downstairs toilet, heroic adventures could not be further away. All that changes, though, when along comes a very stinky villain named ToileTroll.”
Fairley said: “Who doesn’t love an unlikely superhero? And they don’t get much more surprising than Captain Looroll, whose high-octane, hilarious adventures, with just the right level of rudeness, will have children and parents in stitches. . . and unable to see the humble loo roll in quite the same light ever again.”
Carr said he was “really excited” to be working with Farshore again, adding he hopes the book "will celebrate these unsung heroes of the world, wherever they are." He said: "If a toilet roll can be a superhero, anyone can. Roll on 2023!”
