Farshore will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Katherine Woodfine’s The Sinclair’s Mysteries in 2025 with a special edition of a previously unpublished Taylor & Rose.
Secrets on the Shore will be published on 27th February 2025, to mark a decade since the first mystery, The Clockwork Sparrow, was published by Egmont. The deal was signed by Sarah Levison, editorial director for fiction at Farshore, with Louise Lamont, LBA Books.
Secrets on the Shore bridges the events of Woodfine’s two bestselling series, The Sinclair’s Mysteries series and Taylor & Rose Secret Agents, which both star young detectives Sophie Taylor and Lilian Rose.
Farshore dubbed Secrets on the Shore "a compendium of detective delights", including a bonus short story, exclusive letter and secret case notes from Woodfine, detailing the rich and fascinating history of the real-life Secret Service Bureau, and the role of female detectives through history, shining a light on untold stories. Cover art and interior illustrations will be provided by series illustrator Karl James Mountford. Secrets on the Shore is scheduled for paperback publication on 27th February 2025, for readers aged nine and over.
As part of a wider spotlight on the 10th anniversary of The Clockwork Sparrow, a special anniversary edition of the first book in the Sinclair’s Mysteries series will be published in 2025, with the original cover art and interior illustrations from Júlia Sárdá, plus a new introduction, and a golden roundel.
Woodfine said: "I’m thrilled that 10 years on, Sophie and Lil’s adventures continue to find new audiences—and so I’m excited to celebrate the anniversary of The Clockwork Sparrow with readers old and new! I’ve been asked many times if the elusive ‘missing’ adventure, Secrets on the Shore could be made available in print, and I can’t imagine a more delightful way to commemorate the tenth birthday of Taylor & Rose Detectives.”
Levison said: "We are absolutely delighted to bring Secrets on the Shore by the incredible Katherine Woodfine into print for the very first time.
"It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a decade since The Clockwork Sparrow, the first book in the bestselling Sinclair’s Mysteries series, published—paving the way for middle-grade mysteries the world over—and what better way to celebrate this momentous occasion than by introducing a whole new generation of new readers to the action-packed world of daring detectives Miss Sophie Taylor and Miss Lilian Rose. Readers are in for an absolute treat in this very special edition."
Woodfine is the author of more than 15 books for children, including the Sinclair’s Mysteries and Taylor & Rose Secret Agents series.
