Farshore has signed two new books in the Dread Wood series from Jennifer Killick.
Sarah Levison, editorial director at Farshore, bought world rights from Kirsty McLachlan at Morgan Green Creatives. Fright Bite will publish in January 2024, with the next book – the sixth in the series – publishing in September 2024. Both books will be published in paperback.
The first book in the series, Dread Wood, won the Federation of Children’s Book Groups (FCBG) Book Award for the Older Reader category, the Bolton Children’s Fiction Award and the Warwickshire Secondary Book Award.
Dread Wood has also been selected as one of the titles which will be included in the Bookbuzz programme 2023. This is a flagship programme run by BookTrust for students aged 11-13 with the aim of supporting and encouraging reading for pleasure in schools.
Levison said: “Jennifer’s selection as a 2024 world book day author is a recognition of her popularity and growing profile and we are happy to have acquired two more books in the delicious Dread Wood series to feed the appetite of readers. The series has been going from strength-to-strength on the Farshore list and we can’t wait to propel the Dread Wood series to even greater success in 2024 and beyond.”
Killick said: “I’ve been having the time of my life writing the Dread Wood series, so am over the moon to be working on two more adventures. I’m grateful to Sarah and the team at Farshore for giving me such a wonderful opportunity; and to my brilliant agent, Kirsty."
