Farshore has signed a three-book series, Marnie Midnight, from Laura Ellen Anderson, author of the Amelia Fang and Rainbow Grey series.
Sarah Levison, editorial director, acquired world rights from Helen Boyle at Pickled Ink. Pitched as “A Bug’s Life” meets The Worst Witch (Puffin), the publisher said the Marnie Midnight series would take readers aged 7-9 on a magical journey to meet Marnie Midnight the moth and her mini-beast friends.
The first book, Marnie Midnight and the Moon Magic, will be published in March 2024, with books two and three to follow in September 2024 and spring 2025. The series will be illustrated throughout by the author.
In book one readers meet Marnie Midnight, a little moth with big dreams. “Marnie is no ordinary moth, she is a moon moth with a very special connection to the moon," the synopsis states. "Marnie is very excited to be starting Minibeast Academy, to make friends with bugs from all over the big bug world. But when Marnie reaches school she realises that everyone thinks that moon magic doesn’t exist. Can Marnie and her new friends get to the bottom of this moon mystery?”
Levison said: “Publishing a new series from the multitalented Laura Ellen Anderson makes our hearts soar all the way to the moon and back. Laura is an absolute star of the Farshore list, the complete creative package, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to build on the stellar success of the bestselling Amelia Fang and Rainbow Grey series when we bring Marnie Midnight to the world in early 2024.”
Anderson said: “I feel so lucky to be writing my third young fiction series, once again working with the team at Farshore books. I am having so much fun creating my very own version of the minibeast world with Marnie Midnight, Floyd Flombiddium and Dot Vonstrosity, our trio of tiny friends with big dreams. I hope that readers enjoy exploring Marnie’s weird and wonderful world and that Marnie’s stories spark that magic that lives inside of us all.”
