Helen Garnons-Williams, publishing director at Fig Tree, has acquired world rights to Dinner: 120 Vegan and Vegetarian recipes for the most important meal of the day, the fourth book by Meera Sodha, bestselling author of East, Fresh India and Made in India, from Jane Finigan at Lutyens & Rubinstein.
Dinner, which publishes in August 2024, is described as “a fresh and joyful celebration of the power of a good meal”. The publisher said: “Drawing from Meera’s ‘New Vegan’ Guardian column and from a wide range of Asian cuisines, Dinner also includes many brand-new recipes, all created to answer the question: What’s for dinner in an exciting and delicious way?”
The book includes photography by and 100 “vibrant, easy-to-make, Asian-inspired vegetarian and vegan main dishes bursting with flavour”, such as baked butter paneer, kimchi and tomato spaghetti and aubergines roasted in satay sauce. “From quick-cook recipes to one-pan wonders and delectable dishes you can just bung in the oven and leave to look after themselves, Dinner is the essential companion for the most important meal of the day”, Fig Tree said.
Garnons-Williams described Sodha’s cookbooks as “treasured, well-thumbed, (well-spattered…) essentials in countless homecooks’ kitchens". She said: “Everyone at Fig Tree is so proud to be her publishers. Her recipes are as irresistible as they are achievable and her writing is lively, quick-witted and warm. Meera’s generous, practical, inspiring and beautiful new cookbook is a lifesaver for anyone who has ever found themselves standing in front of an open fridge wondering what on earth to cook for dinner.”
Sodha commented: “This is my most personal book yet, inside you’ll find the answers to the question I asked myself each day, what’s for dinner? – when I was choosing to focus on myself. These are the recipes that have in part given me back a sense of myself, and are what I really love to cook in the kitchen. But Dinner is also my most practical book yet in that I’ve done away with time consuming small dishes and starters and focused on 100 recipes which will help you to always put dinner on the table. I’m so excited to share Dinner with the world.”
