Independent children's and YA publisher Firefly Press will publish a second middle-grade Crater Lake novel by Jennifer Killick.
Publisher Penny Thomas acquired world rights from Kirsty McLachlan at David Godwin Associates. The novel will be published next year.
The first novel, Crater Lake, was published in March. Telling the story of a group of friends who find themselves plunged into the year six school trip from hell at creepy new activity centre Crater Lake, it was picked as Times Children’s Book of the Week.
Thomas commented: "Crater Lake is a stunningly good, funny, scary adventure story for 9-12s and we are delighted with the success it has achieved and the reviews, and love it has been shown. We hope it is providing great entertainment and adventure for readers despite the difficult times we are all living in, and we’re absolutely thrilled to be able to publish what promises to be an equally humorous and terrifying sequel next year."
Killick added: "I'm so excited to be hanging out with Lance, Chets, Katja, Mak and Ade, again, and looking forward to putting them through some terrifying moments, and, of course, lots of fun, too."
