Following a six-way auction, Yellow Kite has acquired the first trade book on the subject of lymphatic system, written by LA-based expert Lisa Levitt Gainsley whose clients have included the likes of Selma Blair and Freida Pinto.
UK and Commonwealth rights in The Book of Lymph: Self-Care Practices to Enhance Immunity, Health and Beauty were bought by Carolyn Thorne, editorial director at Yellow Kite, from Lorella Belli at the Lorella Belli Literary Agency Ltd, after a six-way auction. Publication in trade paperback, e-book and audio will be on 4th May 2021. Julie Will at Harper Wave won the auction for NA rights and will publish simultaneously.
The lymphatic system is the body's first line of defence against illness, ridding the body of toxins, waste and other unwanted materials, and "lymphatic drainage massage" has lately experienced a surge in popularity according to Yellow Kite "to flush stagnation and bring in health and glow". Other reported benefits include pain relief, reduced inflammation, weight loss, healing after injury, better digestion, reduced cancer treatment side effects, improved sleep and brighter skin.
Gainsley spent the last 25 years practising the healing tradition of lymphatic massage in Los Angeles and she also began to develop a series of simple self-massage techniques for clients to do on their own at home. In the book she shares the simple, 3-5 minute lymphatic practices to help readers benefit from lymphatic drainage too.
Gainsley said: "I’ve dedicated my entire career to working with people’s lymphatic systems because the results are nothing short of astonishing. People come to me for help with nearly every medical condition under the moon, from cancer to chronic fatigue, gastrointestinal disorders, eczema and acne, Lyme disease, chronic headaches and PMS. I’ve also treated many young people interested in self-care, reducing the toxic load in their body and who are determined to avoid chronic illnesses. I am absolutely delighted to be sharing my tips on how to achieve lymphatic health so you can look good and feel great from the inside out."
Thorne said: "In recent years, lymphatic drainage has gone from a little-known niche to one of the most discussed topics in health thanks to the astonishing results it provides: glowing skin, a flatter stomach, and its role in bolstering immunity. Lisa is the leading expert in the field and these quick and easy massage sequences make this book the perfect self-care guide. I am thrilled to be publishing it."
