Fleet has bagged a first collection of "hilarious" memoir-driven essays from American actress, comedian and children’s writer Jenny Slate.
Senior commissioning editor Rhiannon Smith bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Fiona Baird at WME on behalf of Claudia Ballard. Little Weirds will be published in paperback and e-book on 5th November and hardback on 7th November. Jean Garnett at Little, Brown will publish in the US.
The book, already praised by Mindy Kaling and George Saunders, includes stories, dreams and mediations on topics including heartbreak, the smell of honeysuckle, a vagina singing old sad songs, and “emotional horniness”.
Smith said: “I was hooked by Jenny’s completely original, hilarious, incredibly realised little weirds. I’m so excited to publish in the UK – this is a truly special book and we’re delighted to welcome Jenny to the Fleet list.”
