Floris Books signs Alex Mullarky's 'stunning' upper middle-grade novel

Floris Books has signed Alex Mullarky’s "stunning" novel, The Edge of the Silver Sea. 

Editorial director Sally Polson and senior editor Jennie Skinner acquired world English language rights from Zoë Plant at The Bent Agency. The book, for upper-middle grade readers, will be published in the UK in autumn 2024 with US publication following in spring 2025.

Set on an island off the west coast of Scotland, The Edge of the Silver Sea follows Blair Zielinski who wants to get home to Carlisle and, in their desperation, makes a pact with a magical figure who promises to fulfil her wish for an unknown price. 

The novel has been described as a "gorgeous, emotionally charged, fantasy-realist tale, perfect for lovers of myth and magic" by Skinner.
