Fly on the Wall Press has snapped up The Naming of Moths by Tracy Fells.
Managing director Isabelle Kenyon acquired worldwide exclusive rights to the "compelling" short story collection direct from the author.
The synopsis says: "Tracy Fells takes readers on a mesmerising journey through her collection, where characters undergo transformations and confront pivotal moments that redefine their lives. In this realm of magical realism, myths and legends are reimagined, and the boundaries between people and animals blur.
"The stories traverse landscapes, shifting from enchanting fairy-tale woods to the confines of urban homes. Here, amidst the tapestry of man’s boundless capacity for cruelty, love, hope, and kindness persist."
Fells is the author behind the short story "The Naming of Moths," which garnered recognition as the 2017 Regional Winner (Europe and Canada) for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize. Her short fiction has been widely published in print journals and online platforms, including Granta, Brittle Star and Reflex Fiction.
She has been shortlisted for the Bridport and Fish Flash Fiction prizes, placed in the Reflex Fiction competition, and highly commended in the NFFD Micro competition (2016 & 2020). She was also a finalist in the 2018 Richard & Judy Search for a Bestseller competition. Her debut novella-in-flash, Hairy On The Inside (Ad Hoc Fiction), was shortlisted for the 2022 Saboteur and International Rubery Book Awards.
