Manchester-based independent publisher Fly on the Wall Press has scooped Rachel Grosvenor’s début “dystopian novel with a sprinkling of magical fantastical realism”. Editorial director Isabelle Kenyon acquired world English language rights to The Finery, which will launch on 25th August 2023.
The book follows a cranky 100-year-old professor taking down a totalitarian government in “a world of talking wolves and underground rebellions”.
Kenyon said: “The Finery is a beautifully crafted fantasy novel with both dystopian and comedic elements. It is highly readable, with themes around dictatorship, censorship and ageism that will resonate with a modern audience.”
Grosvenor is a writer of epic fantasy, magical realism and dystopian literary fiction. She has as written poetry and short stories for reviews and anthologies worldwide, and holds a PhD in Creative Writing.
