Suzanne Fortin has moved from Aria, which published her previous three books, to Embla Books for her next two “stunning” Second World War historical novels.
Former editorial director Hannah Smith acquired world English-language rights from Hattie Grünewald at The Blair Partnership. Smith is now at Penguin Michael Joseph and new editorial director Cara Chimirri will be publishing both The Dance Teacher of Paris and The Paris Betrayal.
Chimirri said: “I have long been a fan of Suzanne’s richly atmospheric and beautifully emotional historical novels, which bring the past to life with the lightest of touch. I am beyond thrilled she has chosen to join us here at Embla and I cannot wait to bring these two stunning novels to readers all over the globe.”
Suzanne Fortin writes historical fiction, predominantly dual timeline and set in France. She also writes mystery and suspense as Sue Fortin. She has sold more than a million copies of her books and been translated into multiple languages according to the publisher.
She said: “I was delighted and flattered when Embla Books approached me to work with them. So, I’m thrilled to be part of such a dynamic publishing team and can’t wait to reach even more readers with exciting stories of courageous women in extraordinary circumstances. All this is made possible by my wonderful agent, Hattie Grünewald of The Blair Partnership, and her behind-the-scenes hard work.”
Grünewald said: “Suzanne’s books just get better and better, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about her new partnership with Embla. The Dance Teacher of Paris is sure to delight readers around the globe.”
The Dance Teacher of Paris will publish in January 2023, followed by The Paris Betrayal later in the year.
