Fourth Estate has landed a new book on money management from Laura Whateley.
Michelle Kane, PR and publishing director, acquired world rights for Yours or Mine? The Modern Money Questions That Could Save Your Relationship from Richard Pike at C&W. Publication is scheduled for spring 2023.
The book follows Money: A User's Guide (Fourth Estate) which focuses on how to save into a pension and understand investment, and delves into the more complex questions surrounding money, and whether there is a "right" way to share our money with those we love, and what everyone else does behind closed doors.
The publisher said: "This is a book of personal finance advice told through real stories about other people’s money and relationship dilemmas. Laura speaks to financial advisers and wealth managers, marriage counsellors and matchmakers, philosophers, religious leaders, funeral directors and divorce lawyers to get to the bottom of the questions that can be much more fundamental to our wealth and happiness than where to put our savings."
Whateley said: "Differences and misunderstandings over money can cause so much unnecessary heartache. Now more than ever, with the way the pandemic has exposed tensions around what gives when it comes to juggling earning and caring, coupled with the cost of housing — it's so hard to buy a property alone now — rising numbers of divorces, blended families, disputes over wills, and people being more financially reliant on parents for longer, we need some help to figure out how to manage it within our relationships and families.
"I’m so happy to be working with Michelle Kane and the brilliant team at Fourth estate to bring this advice to life. I hope by forcing some of the murkier side of how we feel about money into the light, it can stop having such a big impact on those we love."
