Sarah Penner's The Lost Apothecary (Legend Press) is being turned into a drama series by Fox.
The network picked up TV rights from Stefanie Lieberman at Janklow & Nesbit. Fox Entertainment is the studio, while Penner will act as consultant.
Penner's book is set in 18th century London and also the present day, as aspiring historian Caroline Parcewell stumbles upon a clue to the unsolved apothecary murders that haunted the capital 200 years ago.
Legend's publicity director Lucy Chamberlain said: “We are thrilled to hear that The Lost Apothecary has secured a TV deal. This atmospheric historical novel, full of secrets, lies, suspense, and betrayal, has gripped readers across the globe and we can’t wait to see how Fox translate this to screen.”
