Frear’s Sweet Little Lies optioned for TV

Carnival Films, producers of "Downtown Abbey", "Last Kingdom" and "Whitechapel", have won a "heated" auction to option TV rights in Caz Frear’s Sweet Little Lies (Bonnier Zaffre).

Eugenie Furniss of the Furniss Lawton Agency sold the rights on behalf of Bonnier Zaffre, part of Bonnier Publishing UK.

Frear’s debut, the winner of the Richard and Judy Search for a Bestseller competition that Bonnier Zaffre ran in conjunction with W H Smith, was published at the end of June and to date has sold nearly 78,000 copies over all editions, according to Bonnier Zaffre.

Exploring the relationship between a father and daughter, Sweet Little Lies tells the story of Cat Kinsella a young DC who discovers that the murder case she is working on is linked to the disappearance of a 17-year-old girl from her childhood, Maryanne Doyle. Cat’s father always denied knowing anything about Maryanne, but Cat knows better and their relationship has deteriorated over the years due to Cat’s suspicions that he was involved.
