Bloomsbury has acquired the UK and Commonwealth rights to Norse Mythology, a retelling of the Norse myths by Neil Gaiman.
Rebecca McNally, publishing director at Bloomsbury, struck the deal in a “hotly contested” auction from Elisabeth Kerr, rights director at Norton.
Gaiman said: “I've loved these stories, and these giants and gods, since I was a small boy. Sometimes the most fun you can have as an author is taking something you love, adding whatever you have to give, and passing it on to the next generation of readers. I am incredibly fortunate in my publishers and am delighted that Bloomsbury will be bringing Loki, Thor and the rest of them, to bookshops and bookshelves in the UK.”
Norse Mythology will be published in the UK in February 2017, followed by a Christmas illustrated edition in 2018.
