Gallery Books has pre-empted a collection of "powerful and thoughtful" essays by Everyone’s Invited founder Soma Sara.
Holly Harris, publishing director for non-fiction, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to Everyone’s Invited from WME. It will publish on 1st September.
Sara founded Everyone’s Invited in 2020 with the mission to expose and eradicate rape culture. She inspired thousands of others to share their testimony, which led to a national reckoning in schools, universities and workplaces.
In this collection of essays, covering a range of interconnected subjects such as social media, growing up in the era online pornography and toxic masculinity, Sara draws a line between the different elements of our society that enable inequality to flourish. She argues that the scale of the problem is vast, and deeply entrenched in all of us. But she shows how we can flip the script and start solving the problem, creating a better society for everyone.
Sara said: “I’m so proud of the work we’ve done at Everyone’s Invited and I’m honoured to have the opportunity to write this book. I hope people find solidarity, catharsis and strength in reading it.”
Harris added: “Soma is the real deal, an activist who has already created change. She has a unique perspective on the world and is an excellent communicator. She can help readers of all ages better understand the world we live in. Her book is accessible, enlightening and engaging and we are delighted to be publishing it this autumn.”
