Gallery has bagged (Un)Stuck: Five steps to get out of your own way by Dr Sophie Mort, the follow-up to her first book A Manual For Being Human.
World English language rights, including audio, were acquired for both books in a seven-way auction in 2020. The Simon & Schuster imprint will publish in June 2023, in hardback, e-book and audio on 22nd June 2023.
Mort is a clinical psychologist with a masters in neuroscience and a doctorate in clinical psychology. She set up an online clinic with a personal mission to get psychology out of the therapy room and into people’s lives.
“(Un)Stuck charts the five reasons you might feel like you are stuck and living your life on repeat, and what to do about it,” the synopsis reads. “Drawing on her expertise as a clinical psychologist with a masters in neuroscience, Dr Soph reveals how to understand your patterns of behaviour and start living the life you want.”
Alison MacDonald, commissioning editor for Gallery, said: “Working with Sophie has been such a pleasure, and her words of wisdom and insight have resonated with me hugely. It can sometimes be easy to think of our trajectory in life as a foregone conclusion, but Sophie busts this lethargy wide open and arms you with the tools to make lasting, meaningful and positive change in our lives. (Un)Stuck is the must-have guide for becoming the you you want to be and I can’t wait for her words to reach readers everywhere next year!”
Mort commented: “I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to write (Un)Stuck with such a wonderful team. I have met so many people in both my clinic and personal life who find barrier upon barrier to living the life they want. This book addresses those barriers, so it is the book I have always wanted to write.”
Kate Evans, Mort’s agent at PFD, says: “Sophie is a force for good. Her work is practical, insightful and offers genuine solutions for anyone feeling a little bit stuck; I know readers everywhere will find comfort and support in (Un)Stuck.”
