Chetna Makan, of BBC One’s "Great British Bake Off" fame, is publishing a second cookbook with Mitchell Beazley, part of the Octopus Publishing Group.
Eleanor Maxfield, editorial director, acquired world rights all languages direct from the author, to publish on 13th July 2017, priced £20, in hardback.
Makan’s new book, Chai, Chaat & Chutney: A Street Food Journey Through India, follows the publication of The Cardamom Trail in April 2016, and is described as an ode to Chetna’s travels through India and the food she discovered along the way. Makan travelled all over India – to Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi and Chennai – sampling the varieties of street food on offer, to take inspiration from the street and create recipes that are simple to cook at home. Recipes include tamarind stuffed chillis; sticky Bombay chicken from the south, and, inspired by the north, pani puri and cardamom and pistachio kulfi.
Makan, born in Jabalpur, India, is a fashion graduate and reached the semi-final of "The Great British Bake Off" in 2014. She has a YouTube channel "Food with Chetna" where she shares recipes, collaborating regularly with Jamie Oliver’s FoodTube.
