Puffin has will publish the third book, Greg the Sausage Roll: Wish You Were Here, by YouTuber couple Mark and Roxanne Hoyle, with illustrations by Gareth Conway, which sees the pastry jetting off to Spain.
The Hoyles created social media personality LadBaby and wrote two previous titles for Puffin, also illustrated by Conway: Greg the Sausage Roll: Santa’s Little Helper and Greg the Sausage Roll: The Perfect Present.
The books were acquired by Olivia Edwards, senior commissioning editor for Puffin Picture Books, who acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from James Munro at WME on behalf of the Hoyles. Illustrations were acquired by Edwards and Nicola Carthy at Puffin, from Susan Penny at Bright on behalf of Conway. Greg the Sausage Roll: Wish You Were Here will be published on 22nd June 2023 in hardback, priced at £11.99.
Puffin said: “Greg the Sausage Roll: Wish You Were Here sees the return of the irrepressible Greg the Sausage Roll for another exciting adventure. This time, away from Christmas, Greg is excited to be jetting off on his first-ever summer holiday. He’s ready to hop on a plane to paradise for some fun in the sun. Karaoke, splashing in the pool, ice cream – Greg’s ready to try it all and have the best holiday ever.”
The YouTubers announced the book directly on their channels to their global audience of 13 million, uncovering the book on the beach, with them telling fans this book will be everything they love about classic British holidays.
The couple also announced that they will be continuing their longstanding support of the Trussell Trust. For every hardback copy of Wish You Were Here sold by W H Smith in the UK, Puffin shall give £1 to the Trussell Trust up to a maximum of £10,000. The Trussell Trust supports more than 1,400 food bank centres across the UK, providing emergency food and support to those experiencing hardship. The partnership continues the Hoyles’ ambassadorial role with the Trussell Trust for which they released five Christmas number one singles to raise money for the charity.
The couple said: “As families continue to struggle to afford essentials such as food and heating, we continue to work closely with the Trussell Trust as their ambassadors to raise money and awareness for the charity whenever we can. Soaring costs are affecting us all, but for families on the very lowest incomes it is unbearable. So we are happy that together with W H Smith and Puffin we can continue to raise money for food banks across the UK.”
Nicola Carthy, editor, commented: “Greg has quickly become the nation’s favourite pastry, and Mark and Rox have pulled out all the stops to tell a story filled with all the hallmarks of a classic British summer holiday: karaoke, crazy golf and lots of ice cream, all brought to life by the brilliant Gareth Conway.”
Zoe Pate, interim head of corporate partnership at the Trussell Trust, said: “The last year has been incredibly challenging for people on the lowest incomes, and for many it has deepened the hardship they have already been facing for some time. The money raised through this partnership will help food banks within our network continue to provide the lifeline of emergency support for local people facing hardship, while we work in the long term to end the need for food banks, for good.”
