Hachette Children’s Group (HCG) has acquired the UK publishing rights to The Powerpuff Girls.
From May 2017, HCG imprint Orchard Books will publish a variety of titles about the characters, who originally featured in a 1990s Cartoon Network series, including fiction, guidebooks and sticker books.
HCG signed the publishing right from Cartoon Network Enterprises.
Karen Lawler, senior licensing manager at HCG, said: “The Powerpuff Girls was a phenomenon the first time around in the 1990s – I loved it then and I love it even more now. The 2016 relaunch shows that the consumer recognition and appetite for this brand are still strong, and that children today find The Powerpuff Girls as attractive as their predecessors. We are thrilled to add to our successful portfolio of licensed brands for this age group.”
