New YA from Patrice Lawrence to Hodder Children's

Hodder Children’s Books, part of the Hachette Children’s Group, has acquired a new YA standalone by Orangeboy author, Patrice Lawrence, to publish in 2019. This will be the third title acquired by Hodder Children’s Books, who signed a two-book deal with debut YA author Lawrence in 2015.

World rights, excluding US and Canada, were acquired by Emma Goldhawk, senior commissioning editor at Hodder Children’s Books from Caroline Sheldon at Caroline Sheldon Literary Agency. 

Hodder Children’s Books are simultaneously revealing the cover of Patrice Lawrence’s highly anticipated second YA novel, Indigo Donut, publishing on 13th July 2017. The book is described as "a love story interwoven with an edge-of-the-seat mystery", bringing together 17-year-old protagonist Indigo, who has had a tough start in life, having grown up in the care system after her dad killed her mum, and Hackney-bred Bailey, also 17.

Goldhawk, senior commissioning editor at Hodder Children’s Books, praised Lawrence for her "incredible talent for navigating important teenage issues in an unflinching and utterly authentic way". Lawrence's debut novel, Orangeboy, was shortlisted for the Costa Book Award 2016, the Waterstones Book Prize 2017 and the YA Book Prize 2017.
