Hachette Children’s Group has acquired The Truth Detective: How to Make Sense of a World That Doesn’t Add Up by Tim Harford, author of The Undercover Economist (Little, Brown).
Laura Horsley, publishing director at Hachette Children’s Group, acquired world rights to the book, inspired by Harford’s How to Make the World Add Up (The Bridge Street Press), from Sally Holloway at Felicity Bryan Associates. It will be published in e-book, audio and paperback in March 2023, with illustrations by Ollie Mann.
The Truth Detective is described by the publisher as “a must read for curious kids aged 10 and up looking to make sense of a complicated world".
Its synopsis continues: “Readers will meet heroic truth detectives such as Florence Nightingale who started a revolution with a pie chart. They will encounter dastardly villains who trick us with dodgy data and misinformation. And they will pick up the tools for digging through fake news and bewildering headlines, showing that being smart and savvy about numbers can help you be smart and savvy about everything else in life.”
