Faber has landed Signals: How the Body Talks to Itself, a book exploring the importance of hormones by endocrinologist Saira Hameed.
Associate publisher Laura Hassan acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, with exclusive Europe and audio rights, from Will Francis at Janklow & Nesbit in a nine-way auction. Faber will publish in Spring 2026. Rights have also been sold in Finland to Tammi in a pre-empt, in Germany to Hanser (also in a pre-empt) and in Romania to Bookzone. It is under offer in Spain.
The book will investigate the part hormones play in our appetite, heart rate, metabolism, growth, mood, libido and sleep. It argues that the "extraordinary system that manages our existence is little understood".
Hassan said: "This is the best kind of accessible science and is written with intelligence and sensitivity. Signals will reveal the secret world of hormones within us all and show how they impact our health and happiness from cradle to grave."
Hameed is a consultant endocrinologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Her first book—The Full Diet published by Penguin Michael Joseph—and an accompanying recipe title both hit number one on the Amazon UK bestsellers charts. She said: "Endocrinology is the speciality of hormones, our inner communication network of signals that allows the body to talk to itself. Through this book I hope to share with readers my own awe and appreciation of the marvellous, almost magical world of these internal conversations."
