Hamlyn has scooped a new energy‐saving cookbook series from TV cooking personality and chef Dean Edwards.
Editorial director Natalie Bradley acquired world rights from Borra Garson at Deborah McKenna Limited to the Cook Smart series. The first title in the series, Cook Smart: Air Fryer, will be published in September 2023, followed by Cook Smart: Microwave in December 2023.
The series is designed as a guide to making the most of kitchen gadgets, with the goal of helping people save time, money and energy. Each of the first two cookbooks includes 90 recipes to help people make use of their air fryers and microwaves.
Edwards made his first TV appearance on BBC’s "MasterChef Goes Large" in 2006, an experience that inspired him to pursue a career in food. Since then, he has been a regular on UK TV shows such as ITV’s "Lorraine", "This Morning" and "Steph’s Packed Lunch", and has amassed a community of more than 820,000 across his social media platforms.
Bradley said of the acquisition: "I’m delighted to be working with Dean on Cook Smart – his clever, laidback approach to food is perfect for these books. It’s also great to be launching the series with the air fryer and the microwave, the former being the exciting new kid on the block, and the latter, possibly the most underrated appliance in the home cook’s arsenal."
Edwards added: “I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to create the Cook Smart series. With energy-efficient cooking being high on the agenda for many families, the recipes in these books are perfectly placed to inspire cooks of all abilities."
