Hamlyn has acquired Chetna’s Indian Feasts, the seventh cookbook by Chetna Makan.
Eleanor Maxfield, former Hamlyn publishing director, acquired world rights in all languages directly from the author. Chetna’s Indian Feasts will be published on 17th August at £26 in hardback.
The publisher described Makan as “the queen of Indian home cooking”. She was introduced to audiences on The Great British Bake Off and has since authored several cookbooks that “combine her inventive flavours with a love of simple Indian recipes” such as Chetna’s 30-minute Indian and Chetna’s Healthy Indian: Vegetarian (Mitchell Beazley).
In this newest collection, Chetna provides home cooks with “flavour-packed feasts designed to please a crowd,” said the publisher. “Her accessible style and supermarket-friendly ingredients prove that you don’t need to be an expert to entertain. Chetna’s Indian Feasts provides a varied array of delicious dishes, grouped together by theme so you know exactly how to pair your platters.”
Editorial director Natalie Bradley said: “A treasure trove of recipes that are generous, simple to make and delicious, Chetna’s Indian Feasts is all about bringing people together and making mealtimes special, no matter the occasion. This book is set to offer something extra special to Chetna fans old and new.”
Makan said: “I hope my love for food and cooking comes through in my new book. I always want to cook with simple ingredients with big flavours and my idea of heaven is a table full of little plates of delicious food being shared with my favourite people.
“A feast doesn’t always have to be lots of dishes, it could also be just one dish with all the love. This has been a dream project, a book that brings together friends and families with recipes that can be made on special occasions or just your weekday meal.”
