Indian chef Maunika Gowardhan’s cookbook Tandoori Home Cooking has been acquired by Hardie Grant after her book Thali was selected by the Jamie Oliver Cookbook Club as its March pick.
Publishing director Kajal Mistry acquired world rights for the new book from Holly Arnold at Project Taste. The book will be published in the UK, US, and Australia in spring 2023.
It will explore regional Indian tandoori cooking with recipes that show how simple ingredients can bring together the most delicious tandoor flavours at home.
Acting publishing director Emma Hopkin said: “Kajal is delighted to have acquired this second book from Maunika. Thali has seen an exceptional performance thanks to Maunika’s dedication and her accessible, delicious recipes. Her new book will bring the flavours of Indian street food into our homes.”
Gowardhan added: “Tandoori Home Cooking takes a deep dive into recipes that have been part of our culture, homes and across communities in India, with a love for communal cooking that has historically centred around a tandoor [clay oven] giving way to some of the finest Indian cooking the sub-continent has to offer. To be able to translate these recipes and dishes from my time growing up in India to the homes of my readers is going to be exciting and something I am truly looking forward to.”
