HarperCollins imprint HQ has acquired three “stand-alone multi-generation women’s fiction” books by romance author Sarah Morgan.
The three novels will be unconnected, with each delving into the lives of the members of a different multi-generational family, and will be published by HQ. The first title, How to Keep a Secret, will be published in June 2018.
The deal was negotiated by Harlequin senior editor Flo Nicoll and Susan Ginsburg of New-York based literary agency Writers House. Fellow HarperCollins imprint, Harlequin, acquired world rights in the deal with HQ to publish in the UK.
Morgan said: “I’m excited to be continuing my relationship with the wonderful team at HQ Stories. Lisa Milton’s energy and enthusiasm is unmatched and working with her is a joy. I’m also thrilled to be taking this next step in my writing journey with my talented editor Flo Nicoll.”
Executive publisher at HQ, Lisa Milton, said: “From the moment I read my first Sarah Morgan novel I was hooked, joining the legions of fans world-wide. Sarah writes brilliant, warm, funny, clever fiction. Our goal is simple; we want Sarah Morgan to be a UK Top Ten best-selling author.
“With Sarah’s talent and our ambition, I’m excited to see what we achieve next as we embark on this exciting new direction into women’s fiction.”
Morgan has sold 653,974 books amassing £2.33m, according to Nielsen BookScan.
Harlequin announced the formation of HQ in April last year, bringing together all of its trade imprints.
