HarperCollins has acquired UK and commonwealth rights excluding Canada for Good Energy: The Surprising Connection Between Glucose, Metabolism and Limitless Health by physician and entrepreneur Dr Casey Means, written with health entrepreneur Calley Means.
Thorsons publishing director Lydia Good negotiated the deal with Alexis Hurley at Inkwell Management. Good Energy will be published on 5th May 2024 in hardback, e-book and audiobook.
In Good Energy, “Dr Casey presents a bold new vision for optimising health now and for the future”, the publisher said. “What if depression, anxiety, infertility, insomnia, heart disease, type-2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, dementia, cancer and many other health conditions actually have the same root cause? The key, she argues, is our metabolic function, the most important and least understood factor in our overall health. To live free from frustrating symptoms and life threatening disease, we need our cells to be optimally powered so that they can create ’good energy’, the essential fuel that impacts every aspect of our physical and mental wellbeing.”
Dr Casey Means said: “Adopting a metabolic (’Good Energy’) view of health is foundational to ensure the future thriving of humanity and for reversing the decimation of human health (and by extension, planetary health) taking place before our eyes. In Good Energy, I challenge readers to face the truth about how energy is created in the body and understand how the siloed health system and corrupt food system perpetuate Bad Energy in our bodies. This book is an empowering guidebook to how anyone can improve metabolic health, feel incredible, avoid disease, and age well. Good Energy is a reimagination of the future of human wellbeing that is both hopeful and attainable.”
Good added: “Good Energy is the most important book I’ve read for a long time. It’s a groundbreaking study into how we can prevent disease, nourish our bodies, achieve longevity and understand our body’s health systems in a way that will empower and heal us – through cell and gut health, glucose levels and metabolism, exercise and eliminating ultra processed foods. Dr Casey Means is committed and passionate about revealing lifestyles and attitudes that are making us sick, and giving us the information and tools we need to achieve long-term health for good.”
