HarperCollins has landed the first book by Kelvin and Liz Fletcher, the husband-and-wife stars of BBC One series “Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure”.
Publishing director Ajda Vucicevic acquired world rights from Olly Thompson at The InterTalent Group. Fletchers On The Farm will be published by HarperNonFiction on 13th October 2022.
The book invites readers to join the couple’s journey from self-confessed townies in Oldham to becoming amateur farmers running a 120-acre farm in the Peak District.
Its synopsis states: “In this uplifting and heart-warming joint-memoir, Kelvin and Liz Fletcher take readers behind the scenes as they navigate the peaks and troughs of life on a lively working farm. From chaotic mishaps like shearing sheep in a way that costs more than the price for the wool, to hard-earned lessons such as to never presume that pigs just stop growing – or put simply, ‘we’re going to need a bigger barn!’ Through wise words and side-splitting anecdotes, the childhood sweethearts also reflect on their history together, growing up in Oldham and becoming child stars, to the future ahead of them and the daily balancing act of juggling successful acting careers, four young children and a farmyard full of animals.”
The couple said: “We never thought embarking on such a change of lifestyle for our little family would have created such an interest and connection with people, so to share this amazing journey with you is a dream come true.”
Vucicevic added: “Kelvin and Liz delighted audiences as first-time farmers on the BBC’s ‘Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure’. And what the audiences discovered was a couple who are charismatic, hardworking, full of joy, laughter, and love. I am so thrilled that they are as brilliant in real life as they are on screen, and I can’t wait to share their adventure with everyone.”
