HarperCollins has bagged the puzzle book You’re the Captain! from flight tracking service Flightradar24, co-written by Gareth Moore and Laura Ayres.
Joel Simons, Harper NonFiction publishing director, acquired world all language rights from Ian Petchenik, director of communications at Flightradar24. The puzzle book will be published on 26th September 2024 in trade paperback.
You’re the Captain! invites readers into the "wonderful world of flight data and navigational insight" and will be filled with "incredible puzzles that will confound even the most experienced traveller". It will also include colour maps where readers will be asked to plot their own routes, navigate time zones, cope with bad weather and help air traffic control find missing planes. All the puzzles are supported by Flightradar24’s "extraordinary cache" of data, flight paths and statistics.
Petchenik commented: "We’re thrilled to launch You’re the Captain! with Harper NonFiction to bring the worlds of flight tracking and puzzlers together in an incredibly fun and exciting book. This collaboration offers readers a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the fascinating realm of aviation while engaging their problem-solving skills."
Simons said: "I’m delighted to be working with Ian and the incredible Flightradar24 team on this brilliant puzzle book that will put readers in the cockpit and pit their wits against the world’s airline pilots. With questions on unusual flight routes, air traffic control terminology, busiest cargo stops, METAR weather systems, and much, much more, You’re the Captain! will confound amateur geographers and veteran travellers alike."
