HarperCollins has netted a “first of its kind” account of Arsenal under Mikel Arteta by Goal’s Arsenal correspondent Charles Watts. Publishing director Joel Simons acquired world all-language rights to Revolution: The Rise of Arteta’s Arsenal directly from the author.
Set for publication on 31st August 2023, the book tells the story of how manager Arteta “transformed Arsenal from a football club going backwards into one of the most exciting, innovative and feared teams in the world”. According to HarperCollins, this is the first time this story is told in full, starting with Arteta’s coaching apprenticeship under Pep Guardiola and moving on to his time at Arsenal.
The story of “an extraordinary football ascent,” the publisher said: “the book will chart bust-ups, Covid, disappointments, FA Cup wins, fan revolt, and the rise of an extraordinary young team chasing a first Premier League championship for nearly 20 years".
Watts commented: “Arsenal’s rise back towards the summit of English football under Mikel Arteta has been a journey that has captivated the fanbase and brought an energy to Emirates Stadium that hasn’t been seen since the move from Highbury in 2006. Arteta has made some difficult decisions and faced some massive challenges during his short time in north London, but in doing so he has changed a culture of a club that just a few years ago seemed to have totally lost its way.
“Whatever happens between now and the end of the season, Arsenal are back on track and in Arteta they have one of the sharpest minds in European football pushing the club forwards. I’m really excited and privileged to tell this story.”
Simons added: “I’m delighted to be publishing the first full account of Arteta’s transformation of the club by one of the most respected Arsenal journalists in the country.”
