HarperCollins has snapped up a standalone novel from Gill Sims, author of the bestselling Why Mummy series.
Katya Shipster, HarperNonFiction publishing director, acquired world all-language rights to The Saturday Night Sauvignon Sisterhood: It’s Time for a W(h)ine! from Paul Baker at Headway Talent. The book will publish on 12th May 2022.
The Saturday Night Sauvignon Sisterhood follows Claire and her unruly family. While her children are busy calling Childline as she tries to feed them broccoli, she discovers her husband is having an affair with her best friend. As she embarks on a path of self-discovery, Claire meets a new set of friends—the Sauvignon Sisterhood—who are brought together by a shared love of liquid therapy. Together they work to convince Claire that, like a good bottle of red, life does get better with age.
Shipster said: “Claire is a great new character from Gill, and this book is a warm, funny, life-affirming examination of one’s life choices, testing to see if they still hold water many years on. Told with Gill’s trademark wry humour and galloping wit, Sauvignon Sisterhood asks whether the accepted ‘traditional’ way of doing things isn’t in fact the right way at all. No-one has quite Gill’s way with words, and I absolutely love this book. I know Gill’s huge legion of fans will love it too.”
Sims said: “It’s been an amazing journey with ‘Mummy’ and a bit of a wrench to say goodbye to her, but I couldn’t be more excited about The Saturday Night Sauvignon Sisterhood, and I’m thrilled to be starting a new chapter with the brilliant team at HarperCollins.”
