Chef and TV presenter Shivi Ramoutar’s Cook Clever: One Chop, No Waste, All Taste has been snapped up by HarperCollins.
HarperNonFiction publishing director Katya Shipster acquired world all-language rights from Antony Topping at Greene and Heaton, for publication on 30th March 2023.
The publisher says that with sky-rocketing food prices and post-lockdown office returns, there has never been a better time to learn how to maximise the ingredients you have and use your time efficiently to cook for you and your family, saying “Cook Clever is all about the day-to-day”, and that Ramoutar has “created clever recipes that simplify the process of cooking fresh, vibrant meals for the whole family, and quickly".
Its synopsis goes on: “Using clever kitchen hacks to minimise prep and stress, with a maximum one (or no) chop guarantee, the recipes in this book entails no weighing, no waste and hardly any washing up. Thanks to clever ingredient choices and recipe development on classic dishes, it is the dream ‘solution’ recipe book that answers almost every ‘problem’ in the everyday home kitchen.”
Ramoutar is the author of two previous cookbooks: Caribbean Modern: Recipes from the Rum Islands (Headline Home, 2015) and The Ice Kitchen: Fast Fresh Food to Fill Your Family and Your Freezer (HarperCollins, 2020).
She has been the resident TV chef on ITV’s “Garraway’s Good Stuff", alongside Kate Garraway, and previously the TV chef on ITV’s “Martin and Roman’s Weekend Best”, alongside Martin and Roman Kemp. She is a regular guest on BBC’s “Saturday Kitchen” and has previously hosted the show, as well as being a regular on ITV’s “This Morning”.
She said: “I’m absolutely bubbling over with excitement for this book to be released. It is genuinely how I make my meals at home: whether for a midweek family dinner, lunching by myself, or a weekend feast with friends, given the hasty pace of life, I still want all the fireworks… but fuss-free.
“I’ve done the hard work: tested methods, faffed about with equipment, tasted and measured all the ingredients with a focus on finding quick, waste-free ways to use up and store excess, so you don’t have to… shortcuts, fast food, good food. It’s your kitchen bible to Cook Clever.”
Shipster commented: “This book is the answer for every busy home cook. The Ice Kitchen is absolutely filthy and spattered in my kitchen and is by far and away the most used cookbook in our house, which is why I was desperate to sign up an arguably even cleverer follow-up. Shivi is an absolute genius in the kitchen when it comes to spotting ingenious new shortcuts and prep techniques to cut down on time, without compromising on the delicious outcome. I will be snipping spring onions into everything!”
