HarperCollins has scooped Mitch Lane’s cost-of-living cookbook for families, Feed Your Family For a Fiver in Under 30 Minutes. This is the second cookbook from the budget cookery author, who is also a BBC "Morning Live" regular contributor and a TikTok creator.
HarperNonFiction publishing director for Thorsons and Specialist Publishing Lydia Good acquired world all-language rights from Emily Sweet at Aevitas Creative Management. The book will be published under the Thorsons imprint in hardback and e-book formats on 18th January 2023.
In Feed Your Family For a Fiver in Under 30 Minutes, Lane tackles cost-of-living pressures alongside the issue of time deficiency faced by working families. The synopsis says: "Requiring no fancy equipment, skills or ingredients and packed full of easy, speedy, comforting, crowd-pleasing recipes that anyone can make on a budget, no matter their experience, Feed Your Family For a Fiver in Under 30 Minutes will help make budgets work for each and every family; saving them precious money and time."
Good said: "Feeding a family of four for a fiver is challenging enough, but doing it with an added time promise is even trickier, and yet somehow Mitch makes it look easy. He has done all the hard work for us and this book includes even more variety, flavour, creativity and, crucially, delicious meals to please the whole family on a budget."
Lane added: "With the cost-of-living crisis still taking its toll and the price of food shooting through the roof, it’s getting harder and harder to put a decent meal on the table and feed our families on a budget. I want to show you that it’s still possible to create incredibly easy, cheap, fun and super quick meals for only a fiver.
"Just because it’s cheap, doesn’t mean it has to taste cheap! The beauty is that with a bit of careful planning, you can chuck these recipes together within half an hour."
