HarperCollins has signed Drama Drives Interest: The Web Summit Story, the "first definitive account of one of Ireland’s most controversial business stores", by journalist Catherine Sanz.
Conor Nagle, former publisher at HarperCollins Ireland, acquired world all-language rights directly from the author. The book will now be published by Joel Simons, publishing director at HarperNonFiction, in September.
Set up by Paddy Cosgrave, Web Summit "has been touted as one of the biggest Irish business success stories of the last decade". The publisher said: "After spending years using social media to target people he disagrees with, and leading Web Summit with what some say was unfettered power for much of this time, in October 2023 Cosgrave resigned in a storm of controversy following his own online comments. But just six months later, he returned as chief executive and, embroiled in a series of lawsuits with his co-founders, Paddy and Web Summit seem to be edging toward some sort of reckoning."
Sanz said: "I am thrilled that HarperCollins is publishing this book, which tells one of the most significant Irish business stories of my generation. It is a story of power and ego which has played out in tandem with the nation’s rise on the world’s tech stage."
