HarperCollins has acquired world rights for two books by Ant Middleton, ex-special forces sniper and star of Channel 4’s hit show "SAS: Who Dares Wins".
Publishing director Jack Fogg signed world rights for HarperNonFiction.
First Man In: Leading from the Front, is co-written with Will Storr, journalist and author of Selfie (Picador). It will be published on 31st May 2018 with the second book following in 2019.
Middleton is the "epitome of what it takes to excel", said the publisher. He "shot to fame" as the front man of Channel 4’s "SAS: Who Dares Wins", following 15 years of service in the military. Over the course of his career Middleton served in the Special Boat Service (SBS), the Royal Marines and 9 Parachute Squadron Royal, achieving what is known as the "Holy Trinity" of the UK’s Elite Forces.
First Man In sees Middleton speaking about the "remarkable highs" and "gut-wrenching lows" of his life: from his time in 9 Parachute Squadron Royal and the Royal Marines to passing selection in the SAS, dealing with the early death of his father and ending up in prison on leaving the forces.
Middleton said: "This book allows you to have a good look into my life, tap into my positivity and understand my mindset. I’ve learnt leadership the hard way, but I hope people will be able to take a lot away from the book and see that it I can turn my life around, anyone can."
Fogg added: "I am absolutely thrilled to be working with Ant. He embodies the concept of the thinking soldier and his book is enthralling in describing exactly what it takes, mentally and physically, to succeed not just in the most elite force in the world, but in life. I’m sure this will be the start of a long and successful publishing career for Ant."
