HarperCollins is publishing two books by HarperCollins editor and author Phoebe Morgan.
Publisher Kate Mills bought the books from Camilla Bolton at Darley Anderson. Mills bought British Commonwealth rights, including Canada, for two books, the first publishing in spring 2021, telling the story of “four one-time friends who are reunited at a lavish birthday party in South Africa —where the wilderness is not the only thing they have to fear."
Morgan, who is editorial director across HarperFiction and Avon, has written three thrillers for HQ translated into seven languages: The Doll House, The Girl Next Door and The Babysitter, which publishes in May this year.
Morgan said: “I’m extremely grateful to everybody who has read my books and supported me on both sides of the publishing process, most of all my agent Camilla and the outstanding team at HQ. HarperCollins is my home from home and I am looking forward to taking readers on Safari next spring!”
Mills added: “Since I arrived at HQ, Phoebe has been one to watch on our list. She made the transition from HQ Digital to print effortlessly and her ingenious plotting, brilliant characterisation and ability to keep a reader utterly transfixed marked her out as a rising star both at HQ and in the thriller market. We’re getting a brilliant response to The Babysitter, and I’m thrilled we have more books from Phoebe to look forward to. I can’t wait to see what she achieves next.”
Bolton said: “We’re absolutely thrilled Phoebe has signed two more books with Kate and the HQ team. Phoebe is an incredible writer and storyteller. She is an author not just for today but for the future and we believe she is set to become a major brand name. I cannot wait for readers to see what Phoebe has up her sleeve!”
